Adella Grace’s Baptism at Bainbridge FUMC

AG's Baptism | oysters and pearls

Adella Grace was baptized into the Methodist Church on Sunday, and I also transferred my membership from the church I grew up in.  Wheat and I, along with many of our family and friends and our Church family, vowed to raise her to walk in the faith and to do everything in our power to uphold her faith as she grows.  She is such a blessed, fortunate baby girl, and it was a beautiful day spent with family and friends who are family.  We are so grateful for it all, and most especially, for her and the sacrament of infant baptism.

I think Doc surprised her messing with her bonnet!

Love my girls! And my niece Elah loves her “Gray Gray.” We wondered what she would call Adella Grace… we didn’t expect Gray Gray, but it’s awfully cute!

This one kills me every time I look at it.  My two favorite little girls love each other so much already!

Adella Grace’s dress and bonnet were hand crocheted by her Pops’ (my father-in-law Bruce’s) first cousin years ago in anticipation of a little girl to wear it.  They sent it to us a few weeks after Adella Grace arrived, and on Sunday it looked like it had been made especially for her.  It couldn’t have been more perfect or more beautiful (in so many ways).

We returned home to have lunch with our families, which was perfect. And I didn’t make a THING!  Which was unlike me, and also amazing.

Seeing my home filled with so many I love so much, and who love Adella Grace so much, fills me with SUCH joy.  We are so very, very blessed, and I’m so grateful to have shared the day with each one of these people.  We love you all!

Good Friday to Ya

Happy Good Friday, y’all!

I’m so excited about Easter this year.  It’s truly become my favorite holiday and time of year. I’m obsessed with bunnies and Peter Rabbit and the Velveteen Rabbit and all things Easter, in addition to loving the spirituality of the season, and I’m really excited to host my immediate family for Easter supper this year!  We’ll go to Wheat’s Aunt’s house for Sunday dinner after Church, then Sunday afternoon, my family will come up and we’ll color eggs and eat supper.  I’m so excited about Elah’s first real Easter!  And can’t wait for baby Kirbo to arrive so I can hit up after-Easter baby clothes sales for next year. ;)

DIY Gold Reusable Easter Eggs | Oysters & Pearls

Last year (or was it two years ago?) I DIY’d these sweet golden Easter eggs that I still use to decorate our table.  Click over here for the DIY Golden Egg details!

This year, I used hosting as an excuse to treat myself to some pretty new Easter bunny plates from World Market that I’m obsessed with – totally rational purchase… right?  I’ve already got the table set… thanks to these long-lasting flowers leftover from my baby shower!

I even have our brand new high chair for Baby K ready for Elah to test out!  I LOVE our Svan Signet Complete high chair – my sister has the same one in white for Elah, and it’s been so great that I registered for the mahogany version.  We are so grateful to Wheat’s parents for getting it for us! I love its design, but especially that it’s not made in China, it’s all hard wood, and it’s great for babies ages six months to toddler. Thank you, Bruce and Nancy!

I got Elah a little Easter treat (a Jellycat bunny from Firefly in Thomasville), and she can borrow baby K’s new Peter Rabbit utensils from on of my besties, Jessica and her husband Kevin (and kids, Chason Wheat and Raleigh Anne).  Thank you, Jess!

I cannot wait to celebrate this holy holiday, but as excited as I am, I hope we all take time to remember why we celebrate.

he is risen - she reads truth - oysters and pearls

For those of you with kids that are old enough, I saw this recipe for Resurrection Rolls over on Dixie Delights this week – they’d make for a fantastic activity for kids – and they look pretty delicious, too!

The marshmallows, symbolizing Jesus, are anointed with oils (butter) and spices (cinnamon and sugar) and wrapped in cloth (crescent rolls) and placed in the tomb (oven).  When they rolled the stone away (10 minutes later at 400 degrees in a greased muffin tin per roll), He was not there for He has risen!  Aka the marshmallow is GONE!  Elah isn’t quite old enough for this one, but I’m saving this away for future Easters.  Until then, we’ll color eggs and hunt them… aka put them in very obvious places for Elah to find them.  I can’t wait!

Happy Easter weekend, friends!

Baby K’s Couples Baby Shower

Words cannot describe how full my heart currently is.  Over this past weekend, my college besties drove and flew from all over the Southeast to host a couples baby shower with my Maiden South maiden Jessica Grace for Wheat, baby K, and me.  They had it at our house, and we invited all our friends.  There was delicious BBQ and amazing cake, and everyone showered us and this baby with so much love.  I am so overwhelmingly grateful for each and every person who made it such a special night for us!  Wheat and I are so lucky to have you all in our lives, and baby K is so lucky to have you all, too.

Thanks to my friend Jen’s suggestion, I am saving the cake topper (I was anyway, obvi) to stick into a greenery wreath when baby K arrives!

The cake itself was from Tasty Pastry in Tallahassee and was delicious!

Most of the hostesses were my ADPi girlfriends from college – wonder if there’s a future ADPi in there??? They came from all over the place to throw this shower and they make my heart so very full.  Our reunions are never, ever long enough and I miss them already! #pilove

And of course, the local hostess with the mostess is my business partner and bestie, Jessica Grace.  Most of our pictures end up looking like this!  I love it and her.

We tried to get a few decent pictures before we cut the cake with family, but it was a wee bit chaotic, so this was the best we could do.
