Game Day in Gainesville

Happy Fall, y’all!

We made it back from Gainesville yesterday around lunch. We had a blast! Yes, even Wheat. ;)

We had an amazing tailgating spot, thanks to the guys getting there very early and staking it out! Us gals brought a TON of food. We were a little overzealous.

I brought pimiento cheese, savory pumpkin dip, and a chicken cheese ball, plus a baked ham, boiled peanuts (courtesy of Wheat), and a pound cake.

I made a glaze to drizzle over the pound cake, which I tinted blue. It was sky blue instead of royal blue though. I think I’m going to have to add royal blue coloring to my stash next.

Glaze/Drizzle for Pound Cake

– 10 tablespoons confectioner’s/icing/powdered sugar
– 1 tablespoon milk
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– food coloring

Whisk the first three ingredients together until smooth and thick. Add food coloring in until the icing reaches the desired color. Drizzle over pound cake. Yum.

We had a bloody mary bar, along with unlimited mimosas and shazams (OJ + champagne + vodka), and a slightly ridiculous amount of craft beer.

Then we had to take some pictures. Lots of them. My college girlfriends and I don’t get to see each other very often anymore, so we had to document it really well.

Courtney, Ashley, their men-folk, Wheat and I all got there Friday night and went out to dinner, and then to a little music store called Lillian’s. ;)

Wheat decided to get artsy.

Then Jess and Evan arrived around 11:00, so we took some more pictures.

At some point, I took Wheat on a tour of the general vicinity on campus, since he’d never really gotten to spend any QT there.

We saw Century Tower, which also served to document how gorgeous it was in Gainesville on Saturday. We lucked out, as apparently the weather was the pits all over the rest of the South East all weekend.

We took a couple tourist pictures.

Wheat may kill me for that one…

Then our tailgate really started to get going around lunch time, and we had lots of visitors. Including a few more ADPis!

Had to.

It was so much fun being back in Gainesville! The game wasn’t real pretty, but a W is a W right?

It was a super quick weekend, but I’m so glad Wheat got to (had to, cough cough) go to a Gator game with me, and that I got to spend some time with good friends. I can’t wait for all of us to reunite at Sara and Chris’s wedding next month!

Now, where’s that fall weather?
