Is it Friday again already?  Not that I’m complaining.

I still can’t even believe it’s August!

I don’t have a very long post for y’all today, but it’s one that is appropo for the impending weekend.

Speaking of Grandmothers this week, I’ve mentioned my grandmother from another mother, Tezzie, on here before.  She has a HUGE lemon tree at she and my Poppie’s house, along with various other citrus trees.  I grew up eating Satsumas (a type of mandarin orange) at her house, and once ate a Baker’s dozen in one sitting as a child.  It didn’t end well… but that’s another story for another day.

Where I’m going with this is that I have very fond memories of drinking fresh squeezed lemonade at Tezzie and Poppie’s house from her enormous Meyer lemons (they really are the size of a small grapefruit).  I made some last weekend, so I thought I’d snap a few pictures and share the ridiculously easy recipe.

When life gives you lemons… | Oysters & Pearls

…Or just when your husband is mowing the grass with a push mower and looks really pitiful and asks you to make lemonade…

Last year Tezzie gave me a TON of lemons.  Her cup had runneth many times over, so I gladly took them.  I juiced lemons for what felt like hours and may have developed a slight case of carpal tunnel, but it was all worth it to have lemon juice all year.

To freeze it, I juice the lemons into a fine mesh strainer set over a mixing bowl.  That way I don’t have to fish seeds out later.  You can push the pulp through if you want, but you won’t have to worry about seeds.

Anyway, fill jars up (I just use regular old mason jars) and put them in your freezer either without a lid or with the lid very loose.  Once they are frozen, tighten the lids down and fuhgedaboutit.

On a hot weekend day, I might also add some vodka…

Or even better, some Sweet Tea Vodka for a boozy Arnold Palmer!

It’s a real shame lemons aren’t in season in the summer, but on hot SoWeGa summer days, I’m awfully grateful for freezers!

I’m also really hoping it won’t be too many years before our little Meyer lemon tree (Tezzie’s tree’s progeny) will be running my cup over with lemons!

Haha, please! This lemonade is nothing! I wasn’t even going to take pictures at first, but Wheat said I should. It made for a good potentially boozey Friday post! ;)
