I keep working on a draft post about our favorite baby items, but it’s too massive and daunting for me to get around to finishing, apparently. It dawned on me that breaking it into smaller pieces would help me actually finish a post, so here goes: our favorite baby bathtime essentials!
Well, for starters, a rubber ducky isn’t essential… but it’s real cute!
We love the munchkin flexible cup with a handle. It won’t hurt baby if you drop it on them (not saying anyone would do that…) and it isn’t slippery when wet. And it has a handle, which just makes it easier. You can do without it, obviously, but it does make bathtime easier and it’s a cheap addition to your routine at $4.99 from Target.
I use a brush in the tub to scrub Adella’s little noggin to prevent cradle cap (or “the cradle crap,” as we call it). It’s $17.30 for a two-pack of Ambassador baby brushes on Amazon (I leave one at my parents’ house for when we visit there). The bristles are stiff and so far it seems to be high quality.
A recent addition to our bathtub was this Pottery Barn Kids kneeler pad. I love that it’s really thick and it SAVES my knees, it has a velcro loop for hanging on a hook or towel bar, and that it isn’t crazy colors like most kids things are. Unfortunately though, this gray Pottery Barn one is no longer available, but the blue Whale kneeler is still available on Amazon for $15.99, and I like it too.
And speaking of hanging, I hang it from these Puj nubs. I got them originally to hold our Puj tub (more on that next) but since it’s a 3-pack, I saved them for other things. One of those things is our whale kneeler. It holds on strong and is white to match the tub. I love them!
Now that AG is bigger, we use this Summer Infant bath seat that I actually got used and just scrubbed the heck out of it. But it’s only $12.84 on Amazon! It’s simple and folds up small to store away once they outgrow it, which I’m all about.
We keep this Munchkin Dots non-slip bath mat in the bottom of the tub to keep the seat from slipping and sliding around. I will say that it’s actually not really a favorite – it doesn’t actually suction to the bottom of the tub, and you have to pick it up and let it dry after each bath time because otherwise it will mildew under there. It’s not a good long-term solution, but it was cheap and it’s cute and it works for what we use it for now. Once we outgrow the bath seat, I plan to order these Puj adhesives, which will hopefully eliminate the mildew issues as well as will actually stick to the bottom of the tub. Any other favorite non-slip products you mamas and daddies out there can recommend?
And Burt’s Bees bath wash is a favorite, but we also like Aveeno lightly scented baby wash. It’s REALLY hard to find unscented baby products, but AG has very sensitive skin like her mama and we have to try to find them. Any recommendations?
We used the Puj tub in the sink for the first 2 months of Adella Grace’s life, and LOVED it. However, our little bitty baby grew into a pretty big baby really quickly, so we moved her to the tub about a month ago. For newborns, I cannot recommend the Puj enough. We loved it for travel, too. So lightweight and easy to pack up! And so comfortable, AG fell asleep in it a couple of times. :)
In the future, I also plan to order the Puj Snug faucet cover. Can you tell I’m a fan of the brand? I love their modern, clean aesthetic without all the wild and crazy colors.
I love a good bath and so far, so does Adella Grace. I know bath time will only get more fun as she learns to play…. so parents: What are your bathtime essentials and favorites?
